01Overview
Al Quran (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a free application published by MK Coding that lets you read and listen to the Holy Quran, view prayer times, find the Qibla direction and read daily supplications.
We built the app to work with as little personal information as possible. There is no sign-up and no user account. This policy describes the limited information that is processed when you use the app and the choices available to you.
02Information we collect
a. Location (optional)
If you grant permission, the app reads your device’s location to calculate prayer times, show your city name, and determine the Qibla direction and distance to Makkah. You can use the app without granting location access; prayer times and Qibla will simply be unavailable until you do.
- Your coordinates are sent to the Aladhan prayer times API to retrieve prayer times for your area. If that service is unreachable, times are calculated entirely offline on your device.
- Your coordinates are passed to your phone’s built-in geocoding service (provided by Apple on iOS or Google on Android) to display your city name.
- Qibla direction is calculated on your device.
- We do not store your location on our own servers and do not track your location in the background for any other purpose.
b. Usage and diagnostics
To understand how the app is used and to fix problems, we use Google Firebase services that automatically collect:
- Analytics: app interactions (such as screens opened), app version, device model, operating system, language, approximate country, and an app-instance identifier. On Android, Firebase may also use the device advertising ID, which you can reset or delete in your device settings.
- Crash reports: when the app crashes, a report with technical details (stack trace, device state, OS and app version) is sent so we can fix the issue.
This information is not linked to your name, email or any account, because the app has none.
c. Push messaging token
Firebase Cloud Messaging and Firebase In-App Messaging generate a device token so we can send occasional announcements (for example, Ramadan greetings or news about new features). This token identifies the app installation, not you personally.
d. Information stored only on your device
The following is kept locally on your phone and is never uploaded to us:
- Bookmarks and your last-read position
- Theme, language, reciter and playback preferences
- Prayer calculation settings, manual adjustments and notification preferences
- Azkar counters
- Recitation audio you choose to download
03How we use information
- To provide core features: prayer times, Adhan reminders, Qibla direction and the home screen widget.
- To stream and download Quran recitations and images.
- To measure which features are useful and improve the app.
- To detect, diagnose and fix crashes and performance issues.
- To send optional announcements through push or in-app messages.
We do not sell your information, show advertising, or use your data to build advertising profiles.
04Third-party services
The app relies on the following providers. Each processes data under its own privacy policy.

Like any internet request, these services receive your IP address when the app contacts them.
05Notifications
Adhan and prayer reminders are scheduled locally on your device based on your prayer times. You can turn them off for each prayer inside the app or disable notifications entirely in your device settings.
06Data retention
Data stored on your device remains until you delete it or uninstall the app. Analytics data is retained by Firebase according to Google’s retention settings (up to 14 months), and crash reports for up to 90 days.
07Your choices & rights
- Location: revoke location access at any time in your device settings.
- Notifications: turn off reminders in the app or in device settings.
- Advertising ID: reset or delete it in your Android settings.
- Local data: remove bookmarks in the app, or uninstall to erase everything stored locally.
- Requests: depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to access or delete information associated with your app installation. Contact us and we will help.
08Children’s privacy
The app is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. It has no accounts, chat or social features. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
09Security
Data sent to our providers travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Information kept on your device is protected by your phone’s own security. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
10Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be announced in the app.
